TRENDS| You’re Giving Me That Room? No WayT

The NewYork Times says more hotel guests are asking for room changes. A large hotel does about 30 of them and the reasons include, better rooms, better view or simply a way to get an upgrade.

I've seen this happen in India only if the guest knew a better room is available in the hotel. Most regular guests know more about the hotel than the staff at the front office does (blame it on churn or the fact that the staff have never used the product they are selling!) and hence can tell when they have been shortchanged.

The readers working in new spanking hotels wouldn't know what I am talking about, but the ones who have seen a floor getting renovated at one time, can identify.

What do you think?

Are guests in your hotel changing rooms more often? Is this an excuse to wiggle out a room upgrade? Is this is new trend we should track & train staff on? write to me editor@hospemag.comClick here to read more>
